This last month has been a whirlwind for the Grafft family… the fourth and final Grafft Girl got married! The wedding took place at a local, urban garden/farm in Long Beach (complete with goats! A huge pro for Madi, the bride 🙂 Actually one of the goats even gave birth to two babies the week of the wedding – and they are adorable!) on Saturday, August 3.
The wedding was very “DIY”, which meant that, along with helping Madi make all the signs and decorations, we (AKA my dad, Chuck) supplied all the drinks ourselves… and he may have gone a little overboard. We are talking crazy amounts of La Croix (flavors I had never even heard of before), inordinate amounts of beer, and some wine, champagne, and Martinelli’s (AKA “kids champagne”, according to our family) to round things out.
Chuck also thought it would be fun to stock the wedding with only beers from either Mexico (Corona, Modelo, Tecate) and the U.S. (Bud Light, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Shock Top), since Madi’s new husband is Mexican and we are American (born and raised in Japan notwithstanding). We had numerous “beer barrows” stationed throughout the garden filled with ice and “long necks”, ready for guests to grab throughout the night.
Other than eating, drinking and being merry 🙂 We all had a blast dancing the night away and hanging out with old friends and family. We even got to try our dance moves out to some cumbia, banda and Reggaeton music!
Although there are no official “Grafft Girls” left (legally), we really will always be “The Grafft Girls” at heart!!
